Ultimaker PLA filament, PLA stands for polylactic acid, is supplied on a spool with a net weight of 750 grams. The PLA colours are not transparent. The filament has good roundness and consistency. Ultimaker PLA is made from organic and renewable sources and is biodegradable.
This PLA is intended for reliable 3D printing with good surface quality. It is safe and easy to print with, suitable for novice and advanced users, and usable in home and office environments. This filament is best used on the Ultimaker 2 . Combined with Cura’s extensively tested material profile settings for the Ultimaker 2+, PLA combines detailed surface quality with reliable performance.

PLA and ABS as print materials
Ultimaker supplies PLA and ABS as print materials. For the Ultimaker Original, printing with PLA is recommended. PLA is biodegradable plastic and therefore the easiest material to print with. If you want to print with ABS, a heated print bed is recommended, because ABS tends to warp if it cools down too quickly. That is why the Ultimaker 2 is the better option if you want to print with ABS.
